Day 1 Arrive Xian(D)
On arrival in Xian, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, located in the heart of the city. Xian is the capital of Shaanxi Province on the Guanzhong Plain and is located in the fertile valleys of the Wei and Yellow Rivers. In the evening, enjoy dinner and a concert of Tang-inspired dances at the Tang Dynasty Theater
Restaurant.
Day 2 Terra Cotta Warriors(B,L,D)
As the largest city in northwest China that is rich in history, Xian is a wonderful place to explore. A visit to the renowned Terracotta Warriors introduces you to these entombed statues, considered one of the most important archaeological finds this century. Over 6,000 of them were individually sculpted from clay, each having a different costume, height and even facial expression. They are standing in battle formation, facing east in order to protect the tomb of China's first emperor, the great Qin Shihuang. You will also visit Banpo Neolithic Village, the actual archaeological site of a 6,000-year-old Neolithic village and the ancient Imperial Hot Spring Baths, an imperial resort for 1,200 years. A visit to the bustling countryside open markets is a great place to purchase souvenirs. In the evening, enjoy a Shaanxi specialty banquet with either Mongolian beef barbecue or dumplings.
Day 3 Xian/Onward(B,L)
In the morning, you depart by mini-bus or car to visit some ancient Tang Dynasty sites, beginning with a stop at the Bell and Drum towers, located in the center of Xian and the Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built to house the Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by the traveling monk, Xuan Zang. You will also stop to see the Ancient City Wall, built on the foundations of the walls of the Tang Forbidden City in 1378. If time permits, visit the Tang Dynasty Arts Museum, which holds an art collection specifically devoted to the Tang period, including ceramics, paintings and imperial artifacts. Later, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
